DERMA

Architecture is not mere construction — it is a habitable body, an organic extension of the human being. Each architectural element echoes a physiological or sensory function. Space is not neutral: it breathes, it vibrates, it holds, it communicates.
Design is space made body.

ARCHITECTURE x INTERIOR DESIGN | MARCH ‘25

Lorena Ceresoli — Art Director + Graphic Designer

  • DERMA (from the Greek δέρμα, meaning “skin”) is a concise, evocative name that conveys intimacy, protection, and sensation.
It suggests a multisensory, porous architecture that acts as a second skin.
Simple and universal, it resonates across languages and cultures with poetic clarity.

  • DERMA is not just built space — it’s a sensitive organism that breathes, vibrates, and responds.
Architecture becomes a tactile bridge between body and world, an emotional skin that we inhabit.
As Pallasmaa writes, it’s “the art of reconciliation between ourselves and the world.”
Inspired by Merleau-Ponty, space here is felt through the body, not just seen.
Rooms are organs, paths are arteries, light is breath — DERMA shapes experience, not just form.

  • DERMA is a living architecture, a sensitive membrane between the body and the world.
It is not merely built space, but a habitable organism — an architectural body that breathes, vibrates, and communicates.
Concrete forms its bony structure, an urban skeleton that gives shape and strength, while the pink mesh becomes skin — a porous, emotional surface that mediates the contact between inside and outside, between intimacy and collectivity.

  • This urban loft project combines brutalism and minimalism, creating a spacious and fluid environment where raw concrete and natural light play a central role. The architecture, with large windows and geometric volumes, fosters an intense connection with the surrounding urban landscape. Every detail expresses a quest for essentiality, stripping away the unnecessary to focus on the rawness of materials and the contrast between empty and filled spaces. The atmosphere is incisive, almost sharp, and the project reflects a contemporary language that challenges conventions. Minimalism and brutalism merge into an intense visual narrative that leaves a strong, lasting emotional imprint.

To inhabit is to feel. Space is a body that breathes.
